Reflection

I hope this is not too late to turn it in :) …

In my final project, I decide to do something not like any of my classmate’s subject, although I think I might misunderstand the project topic too. I decided to do a comparison between Japanese anime and American cartoon, and how do they differ from one another. First of all, I want to introduce what is an anime, and what do they look like in if you ever go to watch them. What I like the most about anime is their genre, they have a lot of genres that American cartoon don’t cover. And yes, although America cartoon cover a lot of friendship themes, there are so few of an ordinary life, normal theme like Japanese anime. For example, the basket, I know that I didn’t introduce this in the power point, so I don’t want to go deep in this.

In American cartoon, there are always a barrier between define graphic and undefined graphic. For example, Phineas and Ferb, they don’t really look like human to me. They have a very odd nose and odd body shape. Especially, their odd finish, it was always something missing or disappears when their mom about to discover what Phineas and Ferb did, that’s so coincidence and in real life they don’t exit. While watching several episodes and quitted, I conglomerated that they never end. Another different point from American cartoon is there theme song. They never change! From the point when they first went on air to now, it is just so old and boring. American cartoon does not really make for teen and adult. For example, me, I cannot sit for hours to watch American cartoon, its themes look so alike that it bored me out. I don’t really know if the artists were lazy to draw a define cartoon or it is their way to do it for so long. And there is not a lot of fan from around the world of American cartoon. The good thing about the cartoon is their space. They were able to show a point, a theme in one episode. They are quick and easy for kids to understand, and maybe a little laughs.

In Japanese anime, there are so many things you can watch online. They are sourced from Japanese history, classical literature, adult-oriented themes, and even American westerns. While animation for children exists, most anime are intended for an older audience. And so many genres like Ecchi, Harem, Hentai(18+), Magical girl, Mecha, Yaoi, Yuri. They have varied of theme songs that I like. They have a define way of drawing that I think fit the most for human. Yes, they have demons and creatures, but they were draw in a way of more define look. Although anime have episode and seasons, and they have to end at some point, but it is good like that. Also there are a lot of fans around the world for anime. A con for this is also the way they draw. If the character is talking, they’re only moving their lips; it can be also a lazy way of anime.

I really enjoyed making this project. At the end, I don’t really think that I put up a clip show how American cartoon and anime songs are differ. That was my first clip ever :D.

Last Arcade Journal

This last one I am going to talk about an art work.

There are many corruptions that happen every day in China, no one can talk about or criticize it, but there is one person can do that. Ai Weiwei (born 18 May 1957) is a Chinese contemporary international artist, active in sculpture, installation, architecture, curating, photography, film, and social, political and cultural criticism. This essay will offer readers about how some of his art works that are challenging the government in China.

Many of his works have been displayed in exhibitions; one of the famous that happen to be famous all over the world in 2011 is the “Sunflower Seeds”. The work combines of one hundred million porcelain “seeds,” each individually hand-painted in the town of Jingdezhen by 1,600 Chinese artisans, and scattered over a large area of the exhibition hall.

This project took about two and half year, from trials to completion. Ai was a frequent visitor that came to the village to patrol and direct. It has been done by hand, of around 1,600 artisans. The material was from gravel or chippings that deep inside the mountain. They were carefully filtered and molded a series of seeds. Then they painted by hand so they look like one and fired them. It took a lot of processes to complete the project. The reviewer also talks about symbolism. “The seeds were also potent symbols of the Cultural Revolution. It characterization of Mao as the sun, and the faithful as sunflowers turning to face him, was commonplace”. The art left the viewer with many myths, question and confuse. He purposely left it there to let the viewer make the final decision.

In my view point, he is kinda cool, he speaks his mind out even through the country mind ban him from getting out of the house. He did get some bruises after he had his exhibitions. with the restrict country like China, it’s very bold of him.

This is how you lose her.
You lose her when you forget to remember the little things that mean the world to her: the sincerity in a stranger’s voice during a trip to the grocery, the delight of finding something lost or forgotten like a sticker from when she was five, the selflessness of a child giving a part of his meal to another, the scent of new books in the store, the surprise short but honest notes she tucks in her journal and others you could only see if you look closely.
You must remember when she forgets.
You lose her when you don’t notice that she notices everything about you: your use of the proper punctuation that tells her continuation rather than finality, your silence when you’re about to ask a question but you think anything you’re about to say to her would be silly, your mindless humming when it is too quiet, your handwriting when you sign your name in blank sheets of paper, your muted laughter when you are trying to be polite, and more and more of what you are, which you don’t even know about yourself, because she pays attention.
She remembers when you forget.
You lose her for every second you make her feel less and less of the  beauty that she is. When you make her feel that she is replaceable. She wants to feel cherished. When you make her feel that you are fleeting. She wants you to stay. When you make her feel inadequate. She wants to know that she is enough and she does not need to change for you, nor for anyone else because she is she and she is beautiful, kind and good.
You must learn her.
You must know the reason why she is silent. You must trace her weakest spots. You must write to her. You must remind her that you are there. You must know how long it takes for her to give up. You must be there to hold her when she is about to.
You must love her because many have tried and failed. And she wants to know that she is worthy to be loved, that she is worthy to be kept.
And, this is how you keep her.

Arcade Journal 9

In this week arcade, I will talk about manga and anime. I loved to do both manga and anime. It is because of the emotion when a manga came out, it always makes me excited, and also because of all the actions and voices I might see in anime.

For those who do not know what a manga is. Manga is a type of hand draw story with either color or black and white. Manga are comics created in Japan, or by Japanese creators in the Japanese language, conforming to a style developed in Japan in the late 19th century. They have a long, complex pre-history in earlier Japanese art. In Japan, people of all ages read manga. The medium includes works in a broad range of genres: action-adventure, romance, sports and games, historical drama, comedy, science fiction and fantasy, mystery, suspense, detective, horror, sexuality, and business/commerce, among others. I also have a long history in read manga since I was in 5th grade. However, I didn’t understand much of what is the manga about until I read it again in later age. I do have a whole lot of manga store in my house. If I ever calculate how much I spent on manga, my mom will go crazy for sure.

Anime are Japanese animated productions featuring hand-drawn or computer animation. Anime includes animated television series, short films and full-length feature films. Both hand-drawn and computer-animated anime exist, animation style often characterized by colorful graphics, vibrant characters and fantastic themes. Most of genres, if not all, are based on manga.

Why do I talk about this? It is because of the bad things when it transfers from manga to anime. I don’t know if they people were lazy, or they think this is too much work, too much hassled that they cut most of the screen in manga. Even though those screens might be not important but it is still great for kids, well, all ages as well. I just want to see the original; I don’t want any cut off or delete in any of the manga I read. It is the same thing with books. As long as you read the book, you don’t want to see the movie anymore, because they can’t fit all the details of a book in a movie, or they think this is not important so they just boldly don’t do that screen.

Artist manga makes manga for a reason, don’t do anything out of the original because they don’t have the right to do so.

Final Project Outline

After giving it a long thought about what I should do, I finally came across something I never have done before. I hope this will work somehow. In this project, I will talk about how History channel sharp our belief in someway, if you ever watch one. I will cut some videos about this channel and sew it together to make a video, showing that this somehow might not be true. I am thinking of between talking or let them- the video itself- talks. This is a big task and I don’t know if I think it correctly :(.

Arcade Journal 8

This week arcade journal will be about artwork, specifically the tools to make an artwork. We use pencils to write, draw, or simply to roll it around our finger; it becomes the most important things to me as a student. We also appreciate lots of artworks that come from water color, color pencils, pencils, etc. but I will specifically talk about pencil only. Certain pencil to certain task, not every pencil to the same job every time. There are two types of people: the ones who only use mechanical typed pencils and the ones who depend solely on ebony typed pencils.

The convenient when it comes to mechanical pencils is light weight and easy to carry. If we need to use this pencil, we just need the pencil and lead, and just by clicking, they are ready to use. They also stop any hassle of sharpener, stop the messiness or sharped it all the time like the ebony. If we are artist, we would be carrying several pencil and several packs of lead. But if we use this kind of pencil, our artwork will only depends only on our pressing on the pencil. With normal pressing, it will have light color, with harder pressing, it will leave darker color. How hard the artist press the pencil is also disadvantage. If they press hard enough, the lead might break and it would be a waste if the lead is not strong enough for the artist. That is why most of the time, artist would not choose mechanical pencil as an artwork tools.

When it comes to ebony pencil, the most inconvenient way of carry is the sharpener. They might be carrying the tiny sharpener, or the big one, depends on how the artist wants. They even carry an electronic sharpener. Ebony pencil is useful in various ways. There are H-typed pencils, which are hard graphite that makes lighter marks.  There are also B-typed pencils that are softer graphite and leave a darker mark. In between are HB, often known as #2 (regular school pencil,) and F, standing for fine point. They also range from 2-9 for both H and B types, thus allowing for quite a few selections when using a pencil. How fine an artwork is will be also depend on how fine the pencil’s point. That is why this will be depending on the sharpener.

Choosing on which type of pencils to use is very important to artist. I admire lots of artworks that come from pencil. I like how they define the depth of a picture; it is pretty stunning to me. Choosing the best materials will lend itself to creating a beautiful artwork that expresses the artist’s ideals.

Arcade Journal 7

This week my arcade journal will be comparing between shoes, specifically high heel and flat. Shoes are the thing we wear when we go out, even inside the house. It helps to protect, shape, keep warm, and embellish our feet. For women and men, of course it is not only for those reasons, it will also tell your status just by looking at the shoes. But I am going to talk about women shoes today.

There are various kinds of shoes for women you can think of. I am going to talk about high heel and flat only. Why do I choose them? It is because of the shape. For those who do not know what kind of shape of high heel; high heel is a shoe that has a range from two inches to very high heel, not just five inches, they can go up high to even to 16 inches high. Yes, 16 inches is the world record. Flat shoes is different; they aren’t high, just by look like at the word “flat” you can tell it doesn’t have heel at all.

We wear high heel in various kind of reasons; we go to party, we go to work, we wear it because we walking on red carpet (celebrity, I love to walk in one too :)). And their design is spectacular, they can make you become a chic, they can make you become professional, they can make you anything you desire. That’s why we, women, loved to buy shoes, even they are expensive, we just born to love them. But wearing them is a kind of torture. High heel’s structure down, it is like we standing on our toes. The first sign of wearing them, we will have feet pain. The pain is in between the big toes and second. If we continue to wear them, it will literally become chronic arthritis and even scoliosis. But why we love to wear them so much? It is because of beauty, we want to look taller, slimmer, and sexier.

What about flat? We also use flat for various reasons; we go to party, we go to work, we wear it because we walking on red carpet, yes, the same reason as high heel. Their design is also spectacular, but they don’t make use become chic, they make us more of an elegant looking. And yes, they are also expensive, but a little less than high heel. Wearing flat is also destroying our feet, but not as much as high heel. The only one that I know of when wearing flat is they make our feet become flat. It is not healthy for our feet when it becomes flat, too. There are numerous researches on choosing which shoes to wear and buyers’ reason on choosing them, most of the one that wore high heel change to flat and they never want to go back to high heel again. It was just bad for the feet to stand on high heel for too long. One of the reasons why they change is because of apathy, by wearing high heel for so long, they became apathy.

Why we choose high heel over flat? Like I said above, it is because of beauty. Just because they want to look more beautiful, they choose the most painful way to refurbish themselves. With me, wearing high heel is not all bad, as long as I am not standing on them for too long, and switching between them day by day, give myself a massage if needed and stop wearing them if anything happen.

Arcade Journal 6

I am out of idea what I should write. This week arcade journal, I will talk about: Is it good to cook ourselves or go for fast food? This is inspired by a movie.

The world today, for one reason or another we did not have time to cook anymore. And so by convenience we run to a fast food store, pick up anything and run to work. But do you know that if we let the fast food, any kind of out for 80 days, it won’t be ruin? I have seen a hamburger, and French fries set on a table somewhere and after 80 days, it won’t even mold. It was comparing with a piece of water melon, and the water melon went mold badly.

Why it is bad to have fast food all the time? First of all, it is bad for your health. French fries, hamburger, milkshake, or anything came out of a fast food store has more calories than a healthy diet daily. If you eat only fast food, and won’t even bother to exercise, you will gain weight like crazy. What I mean is the amount of fat that store in your body by fast food will make you gain weight. The first thing you will notice when you gain weight is your tumble. There is a table that shows the arrangement of height and weight on google, search for it and you will see where you stand. Also, when you get fat, the adipose tissues will eventually build up in your vein, your arteries, blocking your blood that run in your body, and someday you will die because of it. You will not feel good, the mental. When you gain weight, you will feel sleepy all the time and even feel wanting to eat more but still not full. There are lots of stories about he/she gains too much weight that he/she can’t even move out of their chair, or bed. They are just too big to move, or if they move, their bone can’t even support them. Getting bigger without control is the reason why their bones are so fragile if they fall. Most of the things they use daily, like food, books, TV control, anything that they think they might need is sitting around them. It is more of laziness than being fat.

Secondly, you will not feel good about yourself, the image. I also have seen he/she after gain weight, he/she won’t even move around anymore.  Their whole body was so big that their skin will stretch out to the maximum. By the time they lose some weight, their skin will become big sag of skin, which is where they won’t feel good about themselves.

So why don’t we cook instead of fast food? Cook food has less calories then fast food, less fat; we can control it and ore healthy too. Is that the reason why people around the world look thinner than people in the US? I think yes. People lives around the world cook. They cook daily, from morning to night, every single day. They have more food choice than a menu in the fast food store, which is for sure. To me cook food is a plus plus.
